NOTE: 14:1-16:8 - The heart of the Gospel according to Mark is in this section. In 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Paul confirms this in one simple sentence.

14:3-11 - This last anointing of Jesus before His death and burial - is to be remembered in a very special way in the Gospels for all eternity. It is thisanointing that triggered the decision of Judas to betray Jesus. And it is this betrayal which will be remembered for all in eternity in direct contrast to that of the anointing.

14:12-31 - The Holy Spirit through Mark makes it clear how the Lord's Supper springs out of the Jewish Passover Festival. The roots of the church arein Israel. The One New Man of Ephesians encompasses them together. The Judeo-Christian Ethic is a term based on this also.

14:25 - Notice Jesus' hopeful words on our behalf. When our resurrection, (for which Helaid the basis by His “Finished Work”) comes to pass, and we receive glorified bodies like as His, then we will take place the Marriage Supper of the Lamb - and then Jesus will join with us in drinking the fruit of the vine. For at the moment, Jesus is the only one of the New Creation who has received this type of glorified body - saints now in Heaven have spiritualbodies, but notglorified bodies..

Each of the four Gospels look at these events from a different vantage point. They fit together indeed without contradiction, but we gain new perspectives as we read each Gospel separately.

Thank God that in His Wisdom, He led that the life of His Son on earth for 33 years has been recorded by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. J.A.W.
